300L Ilorin University student Olajide Omowumi Blessing was brutally r*ped and murdered in the home of her elder sister.
State Police Command spokesman Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident Thursday, said Omowumi was found naked with both hands behind her back and mouth gagged.
On Tuesday June 1st. "The deceased stayed with her elder sister. The elder sister came back from work around 6:00 PM on Tuesday June 1st and said she tried to reach her by phone but couldn't because the phone rang all the time with no response. She came home from work to find the door to her apartment locked and she couldn't get in despite knocking repeatedly on the door. Then she called some neighbors who helped break the door, "he said. .
"They all found the deceased lying on the floor when they came in with both hands cuffed behind her back and mouth gagged. She was found naked, bruises were found on her genital area, and her mouth was covered, among other things.
"A piece of paper was also placed on her chest with a message saying, “Unilorin does not forgive.” Later, people from the area informed the F Division police station. They took the photo and took the body to the university hospital for an autopsy Ilorin (UITH).
The PPRO said state police commissioner Mohammed Bagega directed the immediate investigation and arrest of the attackers.
In response to the incident, Hon Ganiyu Abolarin, Ekiti State constituency representative in the Kwara State House of Representatives, called for an immediate investigation, arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
